Filling help - dentists/dental nurses?

Hi

I had two fillings put in last December. One was fine, but the other one was the worst, and my dentist had to drill into the gum below it a little bit. Now, 4 months later, I've started getting a really nasty sharp stabbing pain where the tooth is. I've looked at it, and a little piece seems to have come off, but it isn't exposing the nerve or anything. Could this be why it hurts? I've booked an emergency appointment with my dentist, but I have to wait until Monday. I've tried Advil and Paracetomol, but nothing seems to be working. Is there anything else I could try, and what will my dentist have to do to my tooth?

For me, i think the pain u suffering now is probably due to deep cavity on that particular tooth. Your description gave me impression of irreversible pulpitis. That mean inflammtion occuring on the pulp of the tooth. If that is the case, ur dentist will probably advice you to have root canal treatment done.
