Help I've got an abscess and no dentist?

I live in a really rural area where there are no NHS dentists. I have tried to get in at the local emergency clinic but it is always full. What do I do now?

Help I've got an abscess and no dentist?
Go and see your GP. What you require is antibiotics and they will give them to you for that (and it may even be cheaper, because some people have to pay to visit a dentist). In the meantime keep it clean with either salt water or a strong alcohol that you don't really like. (Whiskey, vodka or something like that will be fine) . Half the reason that they hurt is that they're not clean and there's bacteria breeding in them.
Reply:do what i did.... grab the pliers - and take plenty of painkillers beforehand
Reply:Take Aspirin, Tylenol or Oral gell. If you go to the dentist get there as early as possible
Reply:rinse your mouth with salt water until the swelling go`s down.
Reply:You need to go to the nearest hospital that has a dental teaching department.
Reply:u will have to get an appointment with the emergency dentist, if u really cant then try yr gp, u need antibiotics. my 14 yr old son has this problem at the moment had to take him for an emergency appt today, annoying as they have their 6 month check up tmrw but it couldnt wait his face is swollen and in great pain. hes taken 3 doses of antibiotics but not feeling better yet. hopefullly tmrw. hes taking strong painkillers which im not happy about but no choice as hes in lot of pain and cant sleep. try taking paramol, available in yr pharmacy this is the strongest over the counter painkiller u can take 4 x 2 tabs a day - see the instructions. in between u can take 3 doses of ibuprofen or aspirin (if u are able to take them) thats the max pain relief u can get without prescription but u really do need antibiotics asap. good luck hope u feel better soon.
Reply:An abscess is dangerous, like mine was, mine spread to my nose and bone, it was all infected. And it can travel to your heart and brain in serious cases. My friend had a heart problem because of an abscess, because it is an infection, You need antibiotics fast. Good luck.
Reply:Obvious option is to see a dentist privately, even as a one off. If your are in pain now, some of the out of hours services via NHS24 or NHS Direct, provide emergancy dental cover.
Reply:Go to your doctor, he will prescribe antibiotics, the abscess will need to be gone before dental work is done, if you are in pain go to the hospital and tell them there are dentist in some of the larger hospitals.
