I broke my bracket on my brace!!!?

I was drinking cola through a straw, cause the ortho said i could drink fizzy stuff through a straw, and well...i licked my teeth to get the coke off and one of the brackets on my front tooth slid off...the glue came off and now it's still attached to the wires but away from the tooth, so it's not actually stuck to it anymore.


I put the gel wax thing on to keep it in place cause thats what the emergency dentist told me to do, and now i have to wait til monday to get it fixed....even then i don't know if they'll have any appointments.


So does this mean it will affect my whole orthodontic treatment? will i have to keep the braces on longer now? I don't get why it broke, i never bit into anything hard, and the braces have only been on for 4 weeks. That means the glue can't have been very strong, can it??

You'll be fine, just wait till Monday to get an appointment. Because it's an emergency and your bracket actually came off, you will get an appointment for Monday because if you wait for a long amount of time (like a month) it will start to move your teeth. Just keep the stuff on it.
Reply:Dont worry. It will not effect your treatment. It does happen sometimes that the bracket comes off. If you can remove the elastic around the bracket ( let mom or dad do it !) and save the bracket to give it to your dentist later during the week to put it back on. He might even use a new bracket. It doesnt matter if you cant get a appointment on Monday. Your longterm treatment will not be effected. You be fine.. :)
Reply:Don't worry. When my sister had braces she broke so many brackets and her treatment still finished 6 months early. I never broke any brackets and my treatment lasted 6 months later that it was originally scheduled. Go figure.
