I haven't got a dentist anymore, because I had to move away for a year, and couldn't get one when I came back to Cornwall. Anyway, I have a badly broken wisdom tooth, that I think is too difficult to be removed in a surgery. If I had to have it removed in hospital or under unaesthetic, how could I get referred ? Would an emergency dentist be able to do that?
What can I do about my wisdom tooth?
I know to have a tooth removed in surgery you have to be put forward by a dentist. I would go and see an emergency dentist and see what they say. If you can afford to go private then you could have the consulation privately and have the operation on the nhs.
Reply:I live in c/wall call the emergency dentist you can usually get an appointment in 2 days and they will remove it if you ask them to on the day with a local anasthetic unless there are difficulties in which case you will be referred for hospital treatment they are very good i went a month ago for the same reason as you good luck.
Reply:i don't know if it's your upper or lower wisdom tooth, that makes a difference on how it is handled....my dentist removed my top ones very easily and they were broken. most people end up having them removed because they are so hard to get to that it's hard to keep them clean and they end up in bad shape.........if it's the bottom ones, they have to be taken out by an oral surgeon because there are all kinds of nerves in your lower jaw, so the dentist won't do it, but you need a dentist to give you a referrel. even if you moved away, your old dentist should be able to help you out with that. i would call them. if they can't help you, maybe they could at least offer a suggestion...good luck.
Reply:id phone nhs 24 and tell them they would refer you to someone who will sort it i hope you get the treatment you need xx
Reply:Hiya
Poor you, I'm in the same situation, but I have an NHS Dentist that is based in Northam!
She has referred me to the hospital to have my wisdom tooth extracted under g.a.! Not looking forward to it mind you! lol.
Try going to your doctor's see if they can help you!
Good luck.
