I know your doctor has to write a referral before the dentist will do anything, but I was wondering does Medicaid cover the price if it has to be done during pregnancy? Thanks!
I have Medicaid for my pregnancy insurance. Does it pay for an emergency visit to the dentist?
No they only cover prenatal care.
Reply:ya I think so I know people thats on it
Reply:Why do u have medicaid? I'm on ssi and thats why I have it. As long as any doctor takes medicaid, then you're fine. Do u have to pay a copay? Hospitals always take medicaid. Good Luck hun. Call your local social security office and they will give you one or two docs in ur area that takes it. Good Luck, how ever it depends what ur at the dentist for. Ask a professional if u can get stuff done while ur pregnant. Good Luck
Reply:depending on the type of medicaid you have. I know sometimes you can use it for optical visits but I'm not to sure about going to the dentist without a referral from the doctor. My friend made her a dentist appointment and medicaid paid for it without a referral.
Reply:it should be marked on your medicaid card. if not ask your case worker to help you out usually they can help.
Reply:Medicaid is usually given out through your local "Welfare" (the name varies from state to state ours is The department of Job and Family Services) Unless you are on disability and then you can get either Medicare or Medicaid. I live in Ohio and my doctor didn't have to write a referral to see my dentist. It will pay for emergency room visits, doctor's visits, dentist's visits, and your OB/GYN also prescriptions (not all, but most of them) . I have been on medicaid since I was unable to work. It is great health insurance. You shouldn't have a co-pay either. Out here they switched to like Gateway, Unison, or Caresource. If you have any of the above there is a 24 hour nursing hotline and they can usually tell you what they cover. The number is on the back of the card. Other than that call your welfare office and they will be able to point you in the right direction as it sometimes varies from state to state.
Reply:ONLY if you go to a dentist that approves medicaid!!!!!!
