Pregnant and recently had tooth extraction. Now have infection. Emergency Draining may be necessary.?

I am 29 weeks pregnant and 7 days ago I had a tooth extraction. Everything was fine until a few days later. My chin and gums had swollen up and the pain is unbearable still. 3 days ago I went to the emergency dentist and he packed the extraction site and gave me some antibiotics. The swelling is still there and I am still in unbearable pain. I went to my normal dentist today and she said it is very badly infected and if tomorrow it is worst and more swollen I will have to go to the Emergency Room and have it drained. Why is this? And how do they drain it?

The give you a small amount of local anaesthetic into the area and make a small painless incision into the bigegst part of the swelling to allow the pus to drain. It is much healthier for your baby to get this done than to take more antibiotics or to continue having such a big infection in your body.

In the meantime you can help the infection to drain but rinsing out with a warm salt and water solution. Do this as often as possible and hopefully the infection will begin to drain on its own.
Reply:you need to call your baby doctor and tell them also, before this becomes a real problem
