Abscess worry?

I have a large dental abscess and I've been in pain and unable to sleep all night because of it. Throughout the night my face has become more swollen and now I feel sick and shaky...I'm a bit worried, what should I do? Is it safe to wait until morning and go to the emergency dentist?

Abscess worry?
Get to a dentist/oral surgeon ASAP. I had to have my wisdom tooth out not that long ago. The surgery feels like it slips by if they put you under and shouldn't run more than $500. Once the tooth is gone 95% of your pain will be gone, just keep on the anti-biotic and pain meds they give and switch to a liquid diet. Chicken broth and some really nice fruit juice. NO STRAWS after surgery. Get in as soon as you can!
Reply:you feel sick and shaky because you are panicking about it. Calm down, gargle some mouthwash and you will be fine until morning.
Reply:yes its ok to wait till tomorrow if you can deal with the pain. it needs to be drained and u need to be started on antibiotics. if you have a fever at this moment or your pain is unbearable, then go to the emergency department.
Reply:Your dentist should have an on-call service for emergencies. If not, I would go to the ER. They will start you on antibiotics and pain killers so you can at least get a little rest.

An abscessed tooth is nothing to mess around with. Not only is it HORRIBLY painful, but it's very dangerous and could wind up killing you.

I understand your pain, I just had an emergency tooth extraction for an abscessed tooth 2 days ago.
Reply:Try to use "Pyodontel" toothpaste, its good for the gums and stops bleeding and bad breath.
Reply:Do you have a fever? If so, that is a sign that your body is trying to fight off an infection. If you have a fever, I'd call the dentist #, there is probably a paging service, but he'll probably tell you to go to the ER. Good luck xoxo
Reply:Oh I likely had it last fall before I got a root canal done on a fractured tooth. Bad new is that...they put me on an antibiotic (the good old pink stuff) befor they would even touch it. (I think working on it with an abscess could potentially be harmful.) So I had to wait out that horrible night time pain even longer while I was taking the meds!

If you are not on the medication you absolutely need to be, pronto! Call them tomorrow. The fact that it's making you feel sick and shaky doesn't sound good....it's only a guess, but the shakiness could be from a fever working up because your body is trying to fight the infection.

Take care, I know how bad is it to try to sleep... try to prop yourself up into an almost sitting position to sleep.
Reply:You should get yourself to the emergency dentist.
Reply:Sorry your suffering, myself I have had some nasty Abscess over the years, and just go to the emergency Dentist, chances are you get antibiotics to help the swelling go down.

Get some mouth wash to keep try and control the infection, i find salted water very helpful as a mouth wash.
Reply:Go to the emergency dentist. If the swelling is making your eye close or affecting your breathing go to A%26amp;E.
