Periodontal gum disease ? what can i do to stop the pain till i can get to a dentist?
Hi Sassy! I've been in dentistry for over 25 years and I do know much this hurts. Go back to the ER and demand an antibiotic now! This is the only thing that will get the infection under control. If you have to beg and cry. Refuse to leave without a scrip. It's cheap stuff and works great.

NOW, second STOP with the Clorox rinse. This will make your sick. Do this. Make a very salty warm rinse. 1 tsp. to a glass of water. Rinse and hold it in your mouth. Do this for about 1-2 minutes. This will draw the infection and and make your mouth bleed, but that is okay. Do this 4-6 times a day. You can take up to 2400 mg of Motrin (ibuprofen) a day. That's 800 mgs. 4 times a day. Now, use ice packs covered on your face. 20 minute on. Try this 4-5 times a day. Less swelling, less pain.

Now, one more thing. Go to the pharmacy and get clove oil. Keep looking until you get it. Buy cotton balls.

Take cotton balls and pull a small section out and roll in a ball. Get tweezers and dip this in clove oil. Rub this on your gums and around the loose teeth and infection. It will help numb it and stop the pain. Now call the dentist tomorrow and get a pain relief med that will work. Percosette is the best if you can take it. DO NOT wait. You can't get a denture without impressions and if you are in so much pain, that will be hard to do. GO NOW. Get a payment plan worked out and get relief now. NO dentist will refuse you if you are in so much pain. This is too serious to wait and your health is at risk. You must get an antibiotic to stop the infection from going to your heart. NO one will refuse you so call now. I feel so bad and wish you were in NJ so I could help you. Please call first thing and get an antibiotic, this can not wait. I will be thinking about you and wish I could do more. M
Reply:this is the best working advice on periodontal gum disease and what to do for the pain Report It

Reply:I think you need to call your dentist and explain the pain you are in and ask if there is anyway he'll see you now and pay later. Most dentists and doctors will accommodate you if you speak to them honestly. Be sure to ask for the office manager if you call on the phone.

**You maybe should go the emergency room if you are running fever**
Reply:Go to the ER they can get you started on Anitibodies to kill the infection and some pain meds to help you out. Go to the ER! Also becareful that you are not taking to much OTC pain meds and Oragel. You can over dose on oragel. It can make you sick to your stomach.
Reply:you have a very severe infection. if you have medical insurance, go see your dr. he can give you antibiotics and pain relievers, but you can also call the dentist and ask to be seen earlier and pay later or by post dated check, either way, you need to treat this as an emergency, the infection can get into your blood stream and brain, then it becomes life threatening, it can also affect the heart.
Reply:HELLO SASSY,

YOU HAVE THE CLASSIC SIGNS OF ESTABLISHED GUM DISEASE. YOU WILL NEED TO HAVE TEETH EXTRACTED. UNTIL SEEING A DENTIST YOU CAN TAKE SOME OTC PAIN MEDS LIKE 3-4 TABS OF IBUPROFEN (AKA, ADVIL).

I'M SORRY FOR THE PAIN YOU'RE SUFFERING, BUT ONLY EXTRACTIONS WILL ULTIMATELY STOP THE PAIN.

DO NOT DRINK/ RINSE WITH COLD WATER.
