Infected wisdom teeth, receding gums and unbearable pain help?

My girlfriend has impacted and infected wisdom teeth, along with receding gums. She is experiencing unbearable pain and has not eaten/hardly had a drink in 5 days because of it (lost 7 pounds so far). She's been to her physician, the ER and an emergency dentist, all of whom have done very little. She has been prescribed antibiotics and painkillers, both of which seem to be having no effect. Today is Christmas and there is no way she can be helped professionally.

To clarify, she has IMPECCABLE dental habits. She has never had a cavity, brushes/flosses daily and has perfect teeth.

Basically, is there something, anything I can do to help ease her pain or reverse the receding of her gums? Additionally, is her inability to eat/drink normally affecting her body's ability to use the antibiotics prescribed to her?

Any response is greatly appreciated.

Reply:my bf had his wisdom removed a few wks ago..but prior to removal his got infected he used the meds dentist gave him...but he also gargled peroxide with water(it has gargle amount dose on bottle)he also used orajel pm(extra strength)it last longer...tell her to eat(drink soup)she really needs to force herself to eat soup..meds can upset her stomach..otherwise I know it's painful...after the meds kick in..might take a few days...she'll start to feel some relief..

Reply:infected may be associated with swelling, flaccuation, pus collection or pus discharge.it is important that if there is any collection intraorally or a tense swelling extraorally-a drainage is the first line of treatment and that is to be done by a professional.second line is to prescribe antibiotic and analgesics. and finally treatment of the local cause.it might turn into life threatening, please dont take prescription from net, immediately visit the emergency dentist/maxilofacial surgeon at your proximity.emergency dental care is not affected by christmas or other festivals.good luck
