Try seeing if your dentist has an emergency number. As a dentist myself I have an answering service and I will come into the office in emergency situations for patients. If your dentist doesnt provide emergency appointments visit your local ER. The doctor will probably prescribe you some stronger pain medication until you can see your dentist. Also try using a cold compress on the face where the tooth was extracted.
Reply:They'll probably hook you up with some pain meds...sorry, I had the same thing and it does indeed suck.
Reply:Your dentist you have an emergency number to call. Call the number and see if someone can see you tonight, or phone in a prescription for you. If not, the ER will probably prescribe pain killers until you can see the dentist tomorrow. Also if you have any gauze at home, cut a small piece and roll it up into a ball. Put it into the opening of the dry socket. This is usually done at the dentist anyway to close the hole.
Reply:They will probably give you painkillers or something. I'd go there right away, there is no sense sufferiing all night. Take care
Reply:They may give you a temporary prescription of anti biotic and some pain reliever to hold you over until you an see your dentist. I'd definitely go.
Reply:you probably should go to a doctor. that sounds painful as all get out. good luck!
Reply:THEY will give YOU Pain meds ........and do what ever is needed. Mind you they in the ER have no dental drills nor dental instruements ..they will Just Help you and take care of the issue. You need to be seen. asap.

DO not Mess with DRY SOCKET ..ever ... Go to the ER if your not able to contact your Dentist via after hour call in.

He/She Your Dentist will not be offended - if they are not available. You need medical Attention - Go to the local ER.. Please. Just the thought of you having Dry socket disturbs me to the point my hair is up on all ends.

Reply:I just went through this 3 weeks ago. I had a dry socket my third day on deployment. I was really drugged up to begin with 3 percosets and 4 ibuprofen 800 and the pain was still ridiculous. I went to the dentist to get him to take my jaw out (lol). he said he would be just a minute. he rubbed this stuff in there after cleaning out the open socket that took the pain away which was basically oragel. stuffed a piece of what looked like foam into the hole and said there you go. i left tasting eucalyptis for about a day and the pain evened out almost immediately. go get some oragel now to hold you over, stronger the better. they also gave me a broad spec anti biotic to fight the infection. the pain is terrible but its taken care of quickly.
Reply:I just went through this last week and the pain is really horrible but if you can find a drug store or health food store open, try clove oil. It works wonders!! Just put a few drops on a q-tip and swipe across gums and in socket, or drop a few drops right in the hole. It will make all the difference. Emergency room will give you pain meds, I would guess. Good Luck.
Reply:Go to your local Walgreens, there is a product that is called "Dent's Extra Strength Toothache Gum".. Keep your mouth closed as much as possible, because that air can get in that socket and it is very very painful... Good luck!
