Tooth problem?

About a year ago one of my lower molers got a chip. I had no health insurance so I just left it, well after a while it turned into a huge cavity and then one day I had an exreme amount of pain! So I went to an emergency dentist and he removed the nerve and put a temporary something or other in. That was like 8 months ago, Im starting to get small pain now soon to be fixed when i get health insurance. Now did I have a root canal or do I still have to have one?

Tooth problem?
If you are certain the dentist has removed the nerve then yes you have already had root canal. However, there are more than one nerve in our molers and it may be that not every nerve was removed if you are having pain again. Also, it sounds that you had a temporary filling/crown and this needs to be replaced by a permanent one. If the pain is getting worse go to your dentists sooner rather than later, you may have an infection that needs treating with anti biotics.
Reply:if the nerve was removed then you had a root canal , if all was not removed or if the filling failed that explains the pain. Go to the dentist to get an x-ray. You will need antibiotics for an infection which will also help the pain. You will need to crown the tooth also.
