Swelling and pain after crown?

My daughter got a new crown put on this past Thursday. She still has alot of swelling on the gum area beside the tooth and a hard bump on the jawline inside of her mouth. The outside of her cheek is swollen also like she has cotton balls stuffed inside. Is this normal? I'm not sure if I should be worried and call the dentist's emergency number or if it is normal. Thanks for any input.

Swelling and pain after crown?
Did she get local anaesthetic? If yes. it could be that they injected her somewhere sensitive and the swelling will go down itself, but if not, it would sound like there is an infection under that tooth and would need antibiotics or remove the tooth. I would go to emergency just in case, good luck
Reply:If it is painful I would call the doctor and have him prescribe some painkillers. But this is normal, it is also normal to develop a bruise. If the swelling does not go down with in the next few days it may be that she got an infection and needs to be on antibiotics.
Reply:I've had several crowns and I've never had any pain, let alone swelling. The swelling would worry me. Does she have a fever at all? I'm thinking infection. It would not hurt to call the dentist.
