Wisdom tooth question?

I had my wisdom tooth pulled last week and everything was healing and going good. The day before I went to the dentist I was chewing on a soft piece of bread and I noticed a really sharp pain. I went to the dentist for an emergency and he said it was fine and it was healing good. However, Since then I've had a constant pain in my bottom jaw and now im starting to feel it in my throat. I also noticed there is a huge lump under the socket where my wisdom tooth once was. Should this be a cause for concern? If so what should I do and what could this possibly be?

Wisdom tooth question?
If you are feeling a lump, you probably have an infection. Infections often start deep, so the dentist was inable to distinguish it from the healing tissues.

Flush it with warm salt water (teaspoon of salt with 8 oz warm water) and get to the dentist right away. If you find that you are having difficulty breathing from this swelling, get to the ER right away because it could block your airway.

If there is a severe infection, the dentist may provide an antibiotic and get in and clean out the area in attempt to remove the source of infection.

Long story short, this is not normal...get it checked out!!

Good luck!
Reply:Sounds like an infection. Call your dentist right away.
Reply:possibly an infection
Reply:Probably an infection. If your dentist can't see you right away, go to your doctor (ER or Urgent Care if it's completely unbearable tonight). He can give you antibiotics for the infection.

In the meantime, take some Tylenol for pain or fever.
