How do I get into a dentist on an emergency? I have a wisdom tooth giving me grief. I'm not currently with a dentist, but on a waiting list..........
Wisdom tooth nightmare :-(?
A lot of dentists will take anyone who calls because they want patients. If you call enough places, you are bound to find one person to see you. You may have to pay quite a bitfor it, but at least you'll be seen.
Reply:Are you in the UK? You may have to go private as there are not many NHS dentists about these days.
Reply:ring your local dentist tell them you are in pain
Reply:Unfortunately, most dentists are constantly over booked. We try to squeeze in as many emergencies as possible but sometimes we have to recommend the emergency room unless you can find something faster. However, often if you are a patient of record at a dental office they can call in antibiotics for you if needed. But, you might consider calling an oral surgeon b/c that is probably what you are going to need.
Reply:Is there a dental hospital near where you live. When I had a similar problem a few years ago, I went there as they see anyone. If not, I would ring round a few of your local dentists and see if they would see you as an emergency.
Good luck.
Reply:Dental provision varies a lot around the UK. If you live in an area with a low rate of NHS provision there may well be a Dental Access Centre available to you, which is specifically for people like you who need emergency care and are not registered with a dentist. Try your local directory (and possibly that for an adjacent area).
If this is not possible you will have to find a dentist who will do this on a one-off basis but it will be pricey, and, as suggested ringing around is probably your only option.
