I have a major concern problem and I cant get a good opinion about this?

Ok it was Wednesday March 21, 2007 at 10am I had a dental appointment and I was going to have 2 composite fillings on the lower jaw on the left premolars. After when they finished i noticed my lower left lip had some swelling and of course bleeding. Then a few hours later It started to get even more bigger and swelling and it was difficult to eat and drink. Then I went called my dentist after hours emergency than he saw my lower left lip and he was saying that it look like i bit my lip, But Im wondering why would I bit my lip and It got so swollen. It got to the point that it got so swollen bigger than my nose. Then I go to the ER Room and they were saying the same thing because the dentist went there with me and told them. My opinion what i think is the dentist is trying to cover his part so the general dentistry will not lose his business. I think its was possible that they didnt steralize the instruments properly or they inject the needle at the wrong place. Please help.

Go to your insurence company and quit that dentist tell them what happened and they will giv you a list of other dentist you can go to that is with your insurence plan . Trust me they did do something wrong and if your dentist went with you than hes trying to hide something so just quit and when you get hte new dentist make sure u talk to people about his/her service and some positives and negatives about that place that way you will feel alittle more relax to see him/her without not knowing what to expect!
Reply:The dentist went to the EM room with you sounds like a major red flag.
Reply:I work at a dental office and I have seen this happen. Typically when someone is allergic to the novicane. You could have bitten your lip as well. It does not sound like they injected in the wrong place, because your lower lip should have been completely numb if they were working on the teeth that you say they were. Its also possible the dentsit rested their hand on that lip to steady the drill and applied too much pressure causing it to swell, and you bit your lip as well because of it being so numb. I am assuming over all that you might have had a reaction to the novicane or they gave you too much novicane making and you bit down on your lip really hard and caused the bleeding.
Reply:GIGI,

THIS IS WHY I LIKE TO USE SHORT ACTING ANESTHETIC OR A PDL INJECTION WHICH ONLY NUMBS THE TOOTH WORKED ON AND NOT THE LIP OR TONGUE.

YOU MAY WELL HAVE BIT YOUR LIP AFTERWARD, WHICH IS SOMETHING THE DENTIST COULD NOT CONTROL AFTER YOU LEFT HIS OFFICE.

THIS DENTIST DID ABOVE AND BEYOND WHAT MOST MAY HAVE DONE.
Reply:I've seen it many, many times where a patient is numb and bites the crap out of their lip. It can get VERY swollen, especially if you kept biting the same area over %26amp; over again. Quit trying to blame your dentist for something you did. I seriously doubt the ER would cover up for your dentist.
Reply:I Bite my lip every time I get a filling done and it gets swollen DUH!!! But, it seems your getting the same advice from everyone and your not satisfied. Well then call a blood sucking lawyer and I'm sure they will give you the advise you want. May not be the truth or what is right but unfortunately what you are looking for. The right thing to do that I suggest is to find a new dentist that you feel comfortable with. He did his part and responded as quickly as possible and went with you to the emergency room, I've never heard that or would expect that from my dentist.
