My dentist left half of my tooth in my mouth?

I went to the dentist last Wednesday to have 1 of my teeth removed. After he dug and dug he finally got it out, but now it's been a week and my mouth is still swollen, red, and it hurts like someone hit me with a hammer in my mouth. I called and told them what happen and stated that I needed an emergency appointment, the nurse at the front desk states that they don’t do emergency appointments. What should I do? Can I file a lawsuit against them for screwing up my mouth?

"they don't do emergency appointments." That is the worst thing a dentist can possibly say. Not only is that dentist rude, it is downright unethical considering he worked on the tooth that is hurting you.

You definitely should go to another dentist. A good dentist will try his best to give you an emergency appointment if you are in pain.

Anyway, you also want to ask that rude dentist to give you a copy of your records and your x-rays-- By law he cannot refuse, because the information in the charts and x-rays belong to you. Once you have your records, you can then file a complaint with your insurance carrier or the state dental board. The insurance company can investigate for insurance fraud if the dentist mistreated you and billed the insurance company for it, and the state board can discipline a dentist for unethical practices.

Find a better dentist, and hope you feel better.
Reply:So is there still a 1/2 tooth in your mouth? Because I know that when I had a tooth cut out they said that there could be bone fragments that will gradually make there way out, and yes it will be sore for quite some time...But they should have given you some sort of pain medication for that. No, I don't think that you can sue them..
Reply:call and demand that he fix that **** for free and threaten him with a lawsuit.
Reply:yup. sue them.
Reply:I don't know about the lawsuit, but I would find another dentist

ASAP.
Reply:Your dentist is messed up.
